I am an oil painter who enjoys the challenge of trying to capture and interpret what I see, and the freedom to push this in any direction.  I paint abstracts and figures in an expressive way consisting of sometimes muted and sometimes vibrant colors.  In addition to capturing the feeling of the moment, I like to create various textures and depths by applying and removing layers of paint in a transparent manner.

I spent most of my life growing up away from my extended family that live in Nigeria, Mali, England, and the East Coast of the United States, and feel like this has kept me from being close to them. In my recent work, I have used photographs of my family and the various textures, layers, and techniques that I like throughout the process to create paintings that mirror the relationships and my interpretation of the relationships between me and my family.  I continue to use this method I enjoy, as I create paintings that incorporate my passion for the figure and my love of abstraction.
