GRAND OPENING OF RYAN FINE ART GALLERY

Gallery located on the street floor of the Old Forester's Building, 171 So. J. Street, Livermore

Gallery Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11:30 – 2:30 pm, Friday evenings 6-8pm; evenings and weekends by appointment.

Celebrate with the Ryan Fine Art Gallery as they kick off their Grand Opening during the first Art & Wine Crawl on the evening after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 27, from 5:30-8pm.

“The initial exhibition is a group show of artists new to the area and many of my favorites,” says gallery owner Linda Ryan, “although some of my favorites are going to have to wait a bit – I have plans for this space!” Ryan is the creator of ArtWalk Livermore, manager of the Bothwell Arts Center, organizes art exhibitions at Panama Red and the Bankhead Theater, and has curated many local exhibitions and “window art displays” in the area. “I’ve been dying to get a gallery going where we can have themed exhibitions and challenge artists to think.”

Her plans for the gallery include kicking off a bi-monthly art reception called Art & Wine Crawl (Final Fridays, odd months) – but it doesn’t stop there. “We’re going to have some themed, juried exhibitions coming up – the first being East Bay Area Abstract Figurative in late January, and in late March, we’ll revisit the concepts of opacity/transparency, above/below that we looked at in the What Lies show back at ArtWorks Studios in 2001 – I know that I find myself still exploring the ideas in my work all these years after, and we’d like to see what others have done with it. And invite new minds to the concept.”

In between the themed exhibitions, she plans to have featured artists, and give her new gallery interns a chance to curate. Gallery Intern Jen Lock and Arthur Barinque, both artists, will assist with open hours, marketing, and graphic design as well.

Says Ryan, “We’re going to have odd hours – lunchtimes, Friday evenings, by appointment – but we’ll make it work.

The gallery is made possible by the very generous sponsorship of the dance studio “It’s all about Dancing”. Both businesses are located at 171 So. J Street, Livermore.
